Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 Dimensions

The backpack features a packed size of 4 x 19.5 inches, the head height of 40 inches, and a floor area of 29 sq ft. This means more headroom and enough space for you to put two sleeping pads.

The height of the backpacking tent is enough for you to sit down and change your clothes.

The compact design also enhances its portability so that it will be easy for you to carry it around.

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 Weight

Big Agnes Copper spur HV UL2 has a trail weight of 2lb 12oz and a packed weight of 3 lbs 1 oz. With such a weight, Spur HV UL2 becomes one of the ultra-light tents that you can find in the market. 

When I first heard that it had a trail weight of 2lbs 12oz, I was blown away. For a two person tent to be under 3lbs is incredible.

What is the difference between all of the weight types?

Trail Weight – Trail weight is the weight of the tent and all of the components that are required to make the setup functional.

Packed Weight – The packed weight is the weight of everything that comes with the purchase of the tent.

Fast fly weight – This is the weight of only the rain fly, footprint and poles.

Vestibule area

Spur HV UL2 comes with 2 vestibules that are ideal for holding packs and boots and prevents them from getting wet.

The vestibules have a capacity of 9 sq ft per vestibule which, although it is not a very big space, it is enough to hold your packs and boots.

It also features 2 mesh pockets and gear loft loops.

Poles

Spur UL2 features two poles: one central pole that you use in setting up the main tent and a crossbeam, which you can use to set up the fly.

The poles are lightweight, which simplifies your installation process further. The DAC Featherlite NFL and NSL material of the poles make them extraordinarily strong and durable.

Type 

The backpack tent is freestanding, which only requires a pole and grommets to set up, and you do not have to stake it for it to be fully assembled.

Season

Big Agnes Copper Spur Tents are a 3 season tent. It has a lot of mesh, which allows it to withstand only a little snow and freezing temperatures; thus, it is not a full winter tent. It, however, does well in summer and will also work well under most of the spring season.

Doors  

As mentioned earlier, one of the selling points for the Spur HV UL2 is its convenience. To enhance its accessibility, the backpacking tent comes with 2 doors on either side of the tent so that you can exit the tent without having to step over your partner.

Durability

Spur UL2 gives you value for your money as it has a sturdy body construction. The canopy fabric is made of a ripstop nylon mesh while the floor fabric has double ripstop nylon with a polyurethane coating, which makes it waterproof. The rainfly fabric has silicone-coated ripstop nylon with a polyurethane coating, which also makes it waterproof.      

 Additionally, Spur UL2 features a fast fly set up with an excellent footprint. As with most tents, the footprint is not included and is pricey at around ($75 at the time of this writing). Because the fabric of the tent is sooooo thin, we would recommend purchasing the footprint to help with the longevity of the tent. 

Big Agnes gives you the confidence to purchase the Spur UL2 as it comes with a lifetime warranty that covers all the manufacturing and material defects. In case of anything, Big Agnes will repair or replace the defects at their discretion. Note, the warranty does not cover the normal wear and tear.
